Who Turned Out The Lights?

June 19, 2008

Did I mention that I am actually keeping kids right now?  School let out and I found that more than half the kids in this complex left to 1)move or 2)spend summer with their other parent.  Of those who remained, two of them are in my care for the better part of the working day hours and the others are in and out throughout the day.

My home is filled with kids laughing, scheming, and wrestling.  Don’t get me started on some of the questions I have had to answer on the fly, or the volume of fights I have broken up.

I have not found a moment’s comfortable silence to compose a grocery list, let alone a post.  If I can be really honest, and it’s my blog so I will, I am feeling quite worn and tired.

I will no longer be keeping children officially after the 26th of this month.  Eric and I are making plans for a move at the end of July.  I am sure to pick up my posting habits after my home has been quieted a bit in the coming weeks.

I just had to pop in on account of a phone call from a little old lady in Kansas, worried about my health due to my absence.  Evidently, my dear sweet Grandma is a reader.  Everyone say Hi to my Grandma and my Aunt Lori.

I should have droughts of thought more often.  Turns out to be the best way to smoke out your lurkers.

In the meantime, read this post and this one.  I wrote these on my old blog and I read them again today.  I believe they both speak well to where I have been while living in this apartment.  This next month or so will be quite bittersweet.

I’ll be back for sure on Saturday to show you just how good I am at killing even the most sturdy of plants.  Expect also to hear from me later today about ways that we can immediately impact the work my aunt and uncle are doing in the Marshall Islands.

Thank you for keeping up with me.  I’m still here, and you would not believe the crazy churning in my brain, just waiting to be strewn all over your monitor (or print out from Aunt Lori’s computer, Grandma).

I’ve missed you, although since I was gone too I didn’t know you hadn’t posted.

    See you later!

I am glad your back, if at a minimum for one day. Until you get the rugrats out of the house, and then… everyday mister.

  3. Jenni Says:

Glad to hear the explanation for the absence; I have missed you to, but I totally understand!

I read the former posts with relish. The first one resonated with me because I too had the revelation in my spirit that Jesus was able to come through walls and doors not because He was all wispy and ghost-like but because HE was so solid and the walls and doors were wispy and ghost-like to Him!

Awesome insights. Thank you for sharing them.

Oh, and I loved the second post too (TOO with two O’s; I did it proper this time).

Glad to hear you are surviving. I knew you were around I had seen you leaving comments. :)

Hi Amy’s Gramma!!!! Thanks for making her say Hi to the rest of us!

First, a shout-out to Amy’s Grandma and Aunt Lori – glad you’re keepin’ this girl honest by making sure she doesn’t slip in any stories about walking 6 miles in the snow, uphill both ways…
Second, wow, that’s a lot to digest in one sitting, where to begin…
Tasting the bitter is a life-long lesson, at least for me, I believe I’m still an undergrad. I think because you write from this perspective, you have a unique perspective and can truly see the humor in every day life, despite all the ick. I think that’s why you’re truly funny – you see THROUGH the walls; they’re not real and you know that. I’m so glad you’re here to share some of yourself with us and remind me about the things that ARE really important – those precious moments every day that are on the lighter side, the ‘leavening’ of life if you will.

And what a legacy of kindness and Love you’ve deposited in the hearts of these children running through your heart and home.

They will be better for it!
