While I was making dinner last night Mackenzie sat at the table coloring, and thinking about things, evidently.
“Mom?”
“Yes, Kenzie Faye?”
“If I saw Jesus right now, I would give him a big hug. Would you hug him too?”
“Oh sure I’d hug him. In fact, if I saw Jesus right now, I just might give him a kiss.”
This comment was met by a wrinkled nose and several quiet moments while she colored more and thought about it.
“Mom?”
“Yes, Kenzie Faye?”
“I’ve been thinking about what you said about kissing Jesus. I think I will just hug him because I don’t like to kiss people with beards. It’s why I didn’t kiss Santa either.”
As soon as I closed the oven door on dinner, she was at my heels with her beginner’s Bible. We read Matthew 26-28 where it talks about Jesus being arrested, crucified, raised from the dead and then going to Heaven to prepare a place for us. After we read for a bit she closed the book and says, “I think I will kiss him. Just a little one though. I really don’t like beards, but I do like Jesus.”
To Beard or Not to Beard
September 6, 2007

So precious!
That’s really sweet. I would kiss Jesus too even though I’m not too fond of beards.
Now I know why no one likes me!
So sweet!
Remind me to pluck my chin before I meet Kenzie.
How precious!
Got to love that Kenzie. She always has something memorable to say.
That is too funny! I hope to meet her someday
