Peterson Potluck

July 12, 2007

This one’s for the far away grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who count on flaky ol’ me for pictures and updates. I currently have a plate full of projects and this blog will likely be sparse until after the New Year. Among my many tasks is coming up with curriculum for Mackenzie’s kindergarten year which we will be starting next month. Gulp. I can’t believe she is getting so old. She can read simple words and writes little love notes to me and her Dad. Mostly me. Ian is testing words like “certainly”, “actually”, “wounded”, and “booty”. His Dad is very proud. The kids and I will be attending a family reunion in New Mexico next week. They are excited about the mountains. Mackenzie tells Ian that, “We are going for an adventure in the woods.” Eric just got me a decent lap top that we can use for them to watch movies in the car. They travel really well normally, but I think the option of movies will help pass the time. In May we went to my cousin’s wedding, where Dad officiated, and the kids had a blast dancing. Mackenzie danced with the groom more than the bride and Ian enjoyed his little self at the tail end of the Conga. What got us old school Church of Christ folks to jump on a dance floor is a whole other post.
The pictures are just what I had on hand. The only one that really needs explanation is the last one, I suppose. That is not MY baby. That is my nephew, Nathan Cole, brought to this world courtesy of a gracious God and my dear sister-in-law Kylie (and I suppose my brother Eric as well).

I love the look on Ian’s face in that last picture as to say- “No more babies for you mom! Or else!”

And I am glad you are back, even if only for a moment. I enjoy anything of yours I get to read.

  2. Karen says:

Hey, I think I recognize the two other kids in one of those pics. Emily’s shoes are hilarious and so cute! So are we now matching Ian and Emmy also?

  3. Sarah says:

I love how Mackenzie’s supervising her grandpa’s work, arms akimbo.

  4. Chris says:

Is that what Ian is saying in that first picture? It looks to me like he is saying, “Dad, what have you been up to?”

  5. Today I am a princess! says:

I too love the expression on M’s face as she’s “supervising”. It’s precious!
