More Chatting with Mackenzie

March 10, 2007

“Mom?”
“Yes, Mackenzie?”
“Does ’slow and steady’ really always win the race?”
I had the natural knee-jerk answer spawned by years of “Tortoise and the Hare” education, but I had to be honest with my very clever little girl and respond accordingly.
“No, Mackenzie, ” I tell her, “slow and steady is generally a pretty good rule of thumb, but sometimes you really just need to book it.”
“I thought so. Mom?”
“Yes?”
“Does ‘little bit by little bit’ get you there every time?”
“Have you been playing at the computer?”
“Yes. Now, I really don’t think that little bit by little bit will get you there every time.”
“Well, Mackenzie. That one is actually true. If you do a little bit at a time, you will always get to where you need to be.”
“Unless you have to get there real fast, right Mom?”
“Well, then you might try more than a little bit.”
“Mom?”
“Yes Mackenzie.”
“Do you know who I love more than you?”
Ouch. It better not be…
“Daddy. But that’s okay, Mom. Do you know who I don’t love more than you?”
That could be anybo…
“Rocco. I love you more than Rocco.”
This entire conversation happened just like this, except I have edited it for length. Am I the only one stunned at her stream of consciousness? I have no idea where she gets that.
Did I tell you I had a yard sale today? I made a whopping thirty five dollars and got a sun burn that will cost me a hundred times that in melanoma. All the same, it was a great yard sale.

    Amen!

I’m reading a book entitled “10 Red Sea Rules.” It is so good and thats the gist of the message that delivers us from all of our fears and anxieties and it is how God wanted Israel to trust in Him. So wonderful to know that we are given that New Covanental power by that wonderful grace you talk about in your profile.

May God be praised and may you worship him wholeheartedly tomorrow in His name.

She must be a Daddy’s girl. At least you are ahead of Rocco, so it is not too bad.

  3. Amy Says:

Rocco is a real rock star of a dog, so I consider it an honor to have squeaked by him in the ratings. And, yes, she is a Daddy’s girl to the extreme. I like it that way.

  4. Ginger Says:

    how cute!

  5. Chris Says:

Any more Rocco stories or pictures?
