Butterflies and School Buses

May 22, 2006

On a recent afternoon Mackenzie and I were sitting in the front yard eating popsicles when a school bus drove by. We began chatting about school buses and who gets to ride them. From there, Mackenzie leapt into a grand tale which was so fantastic I had to write it down.

The Saga of the Butterfly Sandwich
-By Mackenzie Faye

On some school buses there are really big sandwiches and there’s one sandwich that can turn into a beautiful butterfly. This beautiful butterfly sandwich flies out of the bus and goes into the backyard to play with Rocco. Rocco likes to eat sandwiches, but he doesn’t eat the butterfly sandwich because he also likes to play with butterflies.
Then the butterfly sandwich flies away and a bad man shoots him out of the sky. The butterfly sandwich falls to the ground but comes back to life and goes looking for the bad guy. Upon finding the bad guy, the butterfly sandwich turns into a mean dragon. The bad guy has a sword; only now he isn’t a bad guy, but a good guy. He throws the sword at the mean dragon and the dragon falls down.
The End

I am glad it ends happily. This might make a good movie.

Thank you, Chris, for being the sole commenter on this, Mackenzie’s fine piece of work. I agree. It would make a fine movie.
