Putting the Grandmas on Notice

September 3, 2005

Evidently Mackenzie has been receiving bad advice from her grandmothers and I want to put a stop to it right now. I don’t know which one of you it is, so you both better pay attention.
When I caught her trying a new hair treatment of peanut butter I told her firmly, “Mackenzie, you can’t put peanut butter in your hair”. She responded without hesitation, “Grandma said I could”. And later when she was pulling the blinds up and down over and over again I said, “Mackenzie, don’t play with the blinds”. Again, evidently, “Grandma said I could”. As I was giving her a bath she poured water all over the floor. I kindly informed her that was a bad idea and you can guess her response. And so, I don’t know which one of you has been feeding her these bad ideas, but it is time to stop. Of course, she could be making it up and bringing the Grandmas in as unknowing accomplices, but I highly doubt that. So: no more peanut butter in the hair, no more dog food in my pillow case, no more orange juice in the dog water. It’s time to give her more structured advice, please. I think we can all be grown ups about this.

It is strange. You would think after so many years of experience they would know better.

Now wait a minute! You’re telling me there’s MORE to 4 year olds than just drama? What am I going to do?

BTW, if anyone has tips on how to help a prissy 3year old enjoy life, give me a holler.

  3. Amy says:

Oh, it’s still drama; but the scripts are more clever and the thespian better taught.
No advice on prissy three year olds. We just rolled with the punches and protected our tender ares.

  4. Chris Nystrom says:

They seem to be happy if you let them sit in front of the TV all day and keep brining food and drink.

Funny, that works for me, too.

    stranger poppin’ in here…

How funny! Grandmother’s are evil…funny how I always loved being at my Grandmother’s house. Now I have someone to blame for all my screw-ups. But alas, now I know better. I’ll have to guard my 3 year old from their influence! =)

Somehow I’m glad, at least in this situation, that I’m about 3,000 miles away and don’t talk to Mackenzie very often – so IT CAN’T BE ME! But, if you need me to CALL her and ask her about it, I’ll be happy to.
Of course, it DOES sound supiciously like her dad when he was young……
    Love you,
    Grandma Dianne

teehee! This reminds me of the cartoon Family Circus – where invisible gremlins “Ida No” and “Not Me” live in every home.

  8. Amy says:

    totally like Family Circus.
