…four cows and unlimited Kirby privileges in exchange for the hand of Emily Nystrom to Ian Peterson.
I really think we could make this work. I fully intend to keep my eye on this girl for Ian. She is cute as a button; but more importantly, she has got nerves of steel - a very important quality to have when living with Ian. She shut herself in the closet at our house today. Our closets are very old so there is no knob on the inside and this plucky little girl just sat herself down and waited for rescue. When I opened the door she strolled out like she hadn’t noticed she was locked in a dark closet. I asked her if she was scared and she looks at me like I’m crazy to even think as much of it and says, “Nope”.
NatJ was on my short list for Mackenzie, but he may be off the list on account of the fact that he told me today, “Your house is very dirty”. And while the house is very dirty, I can’t have a son in law who notices.

How cute! You are the matchmaker, you know. I don’t think I would have any objections. Especially if Ian grows up to be a Kirby man.
That’s NatJ for you.

Hey man, I just calls ‘em likes I sees ‘em and this one looks set! Ian ran for door opening aid yelling out, “Emmy! It’s Emmy! Help Emmy!” He seems smitten.
And I have decided that NatJ is a pillar of honesty. He is back on the short list.

I approve of the engagement, but I would like to see the young man work on having his own business, and owning a home to better provide for my daughter.
Sorry about NatJ. He was supposed to give us a complete report on the condition of your house and “how you really are”, but he was not supposed to say anything to you.

I wondered why he kept speaking into the top button on his shirt. Pretty sneaky, Nystrom.

Amy, you are just a great storyteller!! It’s especially fun to read about your own child on someone else’s blog!!

See, Ruth Ann? First we marry the blogs, THEN we marry the children. It’s a building process.

ha.
what happened to emlyn? I’m hurt. her first choice is now gone. of course rocco was going to be a barrier but we could have worked it out.
denali’s too young for mackenzie- too bad.

Emlyn is too easily ruffled for Ian. She needs someone who doesn’t take pleasure in chaos as much as Ian. Maybe you could work out a deal for NatJ, he seems as unflapable as his little sister.

that’s true- maybe NatJ could handle her.
September 6th, 2005 at 9:42 pm
NatJ says he wants to be single and drive a sports car.
September 6th, 2005 at 10:24 pm
whatever. you’re telling me he’d rather do that than live with a high-maintenance woman who can’t handle dirt?
crazy.

I’m very sorry, Chris, but you are raising an upstanding young man and you have to accept that mothers of daughters have other plans for his life. He has no choice.

My mom just wants me to date a girl she can shop with.

shh, jeremy! That’s not supposed to be common knowledge! We don’t admit that…
September 7th, 2005 at 8:53 am
We all have our reasons, and they are VERY good reasons.

Actually, as it turns out, apparently NatJ has a crush on Mackenzie.

Yes!! I will have at least one of those Nystrom kids in my clan! I just know it!
